Why TikTok in Russia shows old videos
In March 2022 TikTok restricted Russia on its own: users only see Russian videos and videos posted before the restrictions, and can't post new videos or go LIVE.
TikTok detects your country by IP address, and in the app also by SIM card. In a browser, a VPN with European servers opens the global feed right away. In the app on a phone with a Russian SIM, TikTok may keep treating you as a user in Russia — then the feed opens on a device without a SIM, like a tablet or computer.

Frequently asked questions
Why does TikTok show only old and Russian videos?
In March 2022 TikTok itself restricted content for users in Russia. It detects your country by IP address and SIM card, so without a VPN it shows only the Russian feed.
Will a VPN help in the phone app?
Often, but not always: with a Russian SIM card in the phone, TikTok may keep showing the Russian region. On a tablet without a SIM and in a computer browser the global feed opens right away.
Can I post videos?
TikTok allows posting when it thinks you're not in Russia. With a VPN this usually works in a browser and on devices without a Russian SIM, but the decision is TikTok's.
Will Russian services keep working?
Yes. Russia Bypass profiles open Russian websites through Russian servers, so you can leave the VPN on.
Can I try it for free?
Yes. New users get 3 days and 30 GB of traffic free, once. Just sign up at kr-link.net and press one button in your account. After that it's 250 ₽ a month or 650 ₽ for 3 months, with unlimited traffic.
