MTProto, WEB Proxy and Telegram Web explained

An MTProto proxy relays encrypted traffic from a Telegram app. A one-tap MTProto proxy usually means a link that opens connection settings in the app. You still need to confirm the connection.

The button on this page opens WEB Proxy. It uses a web transport inside a compatible Telegram app while retaining MTProxy encryption. Support for standard MTProto does not imply support for this separate WEB connection type.

Telegram Web is the browser client. WEB Proxy does not mean our link configures Telegram Web or your whole browser. An in-app Telegram proxy does not replace a VPN for other apps.

Setup and troubleshooting

A KRLINK guide · Updated 5 November 2026

Check proxy support on your device

These are general proxy settings, not proof of WEB support. Use the current button only in a compatible build. This page does not offer a separate MTProto link.

  1. PC — Telegram Desktop: Open Settings → Advanced → Connection Type. Check WEB support in your build, then open the current button in that app. Confirm a recognised proxy dialog. Do not add an unrecognised WEB link as standard MTProto.
  2. iPhone — Telegram for iOS: Open Settings → Data and Storage → Proxy at the bottom. Open the link in the Telegram app and confirm a recognised WEB connection dialog. If the type is not recognised, update the app and check WEB support in your version. Do not enter WEB parameters as standard MTProto.
  3. Android — Telegram: Open Settings → Data and Storage → Proxy Settings at the bottom. Open the link in the Telegram app and confirm a recognised WEB connection dialog. If the type is not recognised, update the app and check WEB support in your version. Do not enter WEB parameters as standard MTProto.

MTProto versus WEB Proxy

Operation — MTProto: Relays encrypted Telegram traffic through MTProxy; WEB: Retains MTProxy and adds an in-app web transport.

Compatibility — MTProto: Official mobile and desktop apps support standard proxies; WEB: Requires separate WEB support in the specific build.

Connection — MTProto: A link and confirmation in Telegram; WEB: A WEB link and confirmation in a compatible Telegram app.

Telegram Web — MTProto: Not a browser client setup guide; WEB: WEB does not mean Telegram Web.

Guarantees — MTProto: No availability, speed or calls guarantee; WEB: No availability, speed or calls guarantee.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is the Telegram proxy really free?

Yes. The KRLINK proxy requires no payment or KRLINK sign-up. You do not need a VPN subscription; use your Telegram account as usual.

Is this a free Telegram proxy without ads?

The proxy is free. KRLINK does not insert advertising into messages or remove Telegram's regular ads. Telegram may show the KRLINK channel as the proxy channel. We therefore do not describe the connection as completely ad-free.

How do I connect an MTProto proxy with one tap?

Usually you open an MTProto proxy link and confirm in Telegram. The button on this page opens WEB Proxy, a different connection type that requires separate client support.

Is WEB Proxy the same as Telegram Web in a browser?

No. Telegram Web is the browser client. WEB Proxy uses a web transport inside a compatible Telegram app; our link does not configure the Telegram Web browser client.

Does WEB Proxy work on desktop, iPhone and Android?

Support depends on the specific client and build. Standard MTProto is available in official mobile and desktop apps, but that does not establish WEB support. Updating Telegram alone does not justify promising it on every device.

What if the link does not open or connect?

Check that the intended app opens the link and supports WEB Proxy. Try opening the copied link inside Telegram, another available network, or retrying later. Pressing the button again cannot add support for an unsupported type.

Will it work with network allowlists or calls?

We do not guarantee operation on allowlisted networks, voice or video calls, or bypassing every restriction. WEB Proxy is not a universal solution; results depend on the network and client capabilities.

How is a proxy different from a VPN?

This proxy is configured inside a compatible Telegram app. A VPN uses a separate app and can route traffic from other apps depending on settings. KRLINK VPN is paid separately; the free proxy does not depend on it.

What should I know about privacy?

MTProxy relays encrypted Telegram traffic, but this does not promise full anonymity or no logging. An operator may observe network connection information. Choose a service you trust.

Does the proxy become paid after the VPN trial?

No. The 3-day trial belongs to the separate VPN subscription. The proxy stays free whether or not you continue using the VPN.
